Before-and-After Repair Photo Reports
Before-and-after photos are useful when the reader can identify the same component and understand what was checked. A later image alone does not establish that every part of the original observation has been addressed.

Match the location before the angle
Start with the original item reference, room and component. Use the context photo to confirm you are looking at the same place. In repeated units or rooms, similar finishes are not enough to establish a match.
Where practical, take the follow-up image from a comparable viewpoint and record material differences in access or lighting. Do not manipulate the photographs to make the result look more favourable. The aim is a clear comparison, not a promotional transformation.
Caption the sequence explicitly
- Identify the original observation date and what the first image shows.
- Identify the follow-up date and the current visible condition.
- State if a contractor or client supplied an image.
- Note changes in viewpoint, protection or visibility that limit comparison.
- Describe any check performed separately from what the image can show.
For an operational issue, photographs may show the component but not prove how it behaved. A dated note about the permitted check is necessary to explain the outcome.
Example of a drawer repair record
The original entry records a drawer front contacting an adjacent panel. The first context photo locates the unit, and the detail photo shows the contact point. After a return visit, a new caption identifies the same drawer and date, while the resolution note states what happened during ordinary opening.
If the contractor supplies only a photo of the closed drawer, record it as supplied completion evidence. Do not state that you verified operation. Arrange the agreed check or leave the limitation visible in the report.
Keep the report sequence intact
